Cross Country Update

IMG_2251
The 30 runners on the Timberwolf cross country teams competed in the 5-AAAAA region meet on Thursday, October 19 and came away with 16 personal bests and two season’s bests. Leading the way for the girls were all-region runners Allie Clemens and Brawnwyn Koellner. Both runners had to significantly improve their positions after the 1st mile in order to finish in the top 14 and garner all-region honors. Clemens was in 15th place at the mile mark, but Koellner was in only 30th position. Clemens finished 11th and Koellner 14th. This is Clemens’ first time earning all-region, while Koellner earned the honor in 2013.
The girls’ team finished 6th, with 4 of the 7 varsity runners establishing new personal bests, including Clemens, Alaina Monaco, Hannah Talbert and Grace Robinette. The average time of the scoring runners was 22:24, one of the fastest ever for White Knoll at any 5K.
The Timberwolf boys did not fare quite as well in the team competition, but nonetheless managed to record quite a few personal records. The top runner for the boys was Nathaniel Wilburn, finishing his race in a time of 17:49. A standout for the Timberwolves was eighth grader Ezekiel Ki, who ran under 19 minutes for the first time as he finished in 18:52. Fellow eighth graders Justin Cole and Brandon Reed also recorded personal best times in the varsity race.
Timberwolf varsity cross-country will next race or at the AAAAA Mid-state Qualifier at Sandhill on Saturday, October 28th.
