Wrestling competed at the Airport Duals on December 23rd. They went 4-1 for the event. Lost to the the Champs of the Tournament Indian Land 39-21. They defeated Stall 72-4, Aiken 58-12, Swansea 39-31, and Airport 45-24.
The next event we wrestled in was the KO Sportswear Wildcat Duals on December 29th and 30th. This a premier Dual event in SC with a ton of the top teams in the State. We went a respectable 3-3. We went 2-1 in our pool and advanced to the Gold Medal Bracket where we went 1-2 with the best teams at the event. In pool play, we beat Spring Valley 45-30, lost to Eastside 46-25, beat Fort Myer, FL 39-37. We were trailing Fort Myers 33-0 and came back to win 39-37. In Gold Medal Bracket we got smoked by Lugoff-Elgin in first round 62-12, lost to Summerville 49-27, and finished with a win over North Myrtle Beach 51-27.
Also, individually we sent Selwyn Porter down to the Coastal Clash on 12/22 and 12/23 which is a big time Individual tournament with teams from all over the Southeast. He went 5-1 and finished in 3rd place. He was also named Most Outstanding Wrestler for Light Weights at the KO Sportswear Wildcat Duals.
The varsity team is now 14-8 on the season. We have North Central Duals this weekend and will start region matches next week where we will host Lexington on 1/10.
