This weekend, the varsity softball team participated in the annual Wildcat Invitational Tournament at Pine Grove Sports Complex. After taking the championship last year, expectations were high for the Lady Timberwolves. The girls lived up to and perhaps even exceeded those high expectations. The T-Wolves defeated Swansea 7-3, Lugoff-Elgin 9-3, and Spring Valley 12-3 in pool play in order to advance to the championship bracket semifinals. There they defeated Chapin 14-2 landing them in the championship game against Fort Mill. The T-Wolf offense got off to a slow start but quickly picked up the pace, scoring ten runs in the next three innings to end the game in five innings. Over the five games, the girls collected 51 hits which included 13 home runs by Lexi Winters (1), Shelby Davies (1), Maddie Miller (1), Ginna Leaphart (2), Andrea Lyon (3), and Hannah Goodwin (5). The girls will be back at it this week with home games against Irmo on Tuesday and Fort Mill on Wednesday followed by an away match up Friday night at River Bluff.
