Alan Alvarez and LJ Gray took home the gold after earning first place finishes in the boys 100-meter and 110-meter hurdles dashes. Gray won in his final race by a landslide and ran a new personal best time of a 14.03. This time tied him with one of the fastest overall times in the state and earned him a Gold Elite performance. Alvarez started his day off by earning a state tiles in the 100-meter dash. Alvarez posted a career best time of a 10.57 and earned a Gold Elite Performance. He later placed posted another career best time in the 200-meter dash with a time of the 21.58 and placed 3rd place overall in his final career race.
The Timberwolves had two female competitors that placed over the weekend. Freshman Shia-La Chaplin recorded a personal best long jump of an “18’1”, earning All-State standards. Rhone’ Allen finished her career by recording a personal best time and breaking her own records in the 400-meter dash. Allen posted a gold performance standard time of a 56.50 in the 400-meter dash, placing 3rd overall in her division. She also competed in the 200-meter dash and placed 5th overall.
