Coed Varsity Swimming · Swim Team Update

After three meets, White Knoll High School Swim Team is off to a big splash. All the swimmers are quickly adjusting to the new coach, Louis Biles. WK’s first meet was against Lancaster at their pool. We had a lot of very good swims with a bunch of personal best times and several individual first places. On the girl side of the meet, McKayla McClary won the 200 IM and Andras Warczglowa won the 500 free. Both swimmers are some of our outstanding seventh graders in their first year. Moving on to our returning swimmers, girls Sophomore Timber Wolf swimmer Lara Federspiel won the 100 free while boys Senior Timber Wolf swimmer Skyler Blume won the 50 free and the 500 free. He is one of our outstanding senior swimmers who we expect to make 5A State Meet this year in October. Also, on the boys side, Senoir swimmer Chase Jordan won the 100 freestyle. And the girls final event was full of excitement. WK girls 400 free relay which consist of Andras Warczglowa, McKayla Purscell, Senior Montgomery Zirkle, and our anchor leg McKayla McClary came back with a great swim to win the women’s 400 freestyle relay.

And with the other two meets, WK swam against Irmo, AC Flora in one meet, and Chapin and River Bluff in the other meet. Again, we had much success in personal best times and some personal individual victories but fell short on the points to win the meet.

White Knoll seniors this year are: on the girl side, Lauren Nagel, Abby Wilson and Montgomery Zirkle along with the seniors boys Skyler Blume and Chase Jordan. They will be leading the team with their experience in future swim meets. As a matter of fact, our Senior Night is Wednesday, September 12. White Knoll Swimmers hope to see everybody there to support our swim team and give a big thanks, great job and loyal dedication to our Senior Timber Wolf Swimmers.

Currently, our state qualifiers with consideration and/or automatic times are – for the girl side is Lara Federspiel in the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke, and on the boys side- Skyler Blume in the 50 free. But ending on a sad note, Lara Federspiel will be moving to Ireland on September 12, we wish her the best and to remember her Timber Wolf swimming family.

Again, White Knoll Swim Team will be actually hosting our first home swim meet this Wednesday, September 12 at Country Club of Lexington. We will be playing host to Dreher High School and Spring Valley High School. But the excitement for the night will be with a big grateful thanks to our senior swimmers- Lauren Nagel, Abby Wilson, Montgomery Zirkle, Skyler Blume and Chase Jordan.
