The Timberwolf XC teams ran on a familiar course Friday, October 5th, with an interesting twist: the races were held under the stars at Lexington high school. In spite of once again encountering technical issues at an LHS meet, the cross country pack put together a great team effort as the boys and girls each placed fourth in the 9 team field.
In the Girls’ race, 8 of 11 runners posted season’s best times. The girls were led by senior captain Alaina Monaco, who ran a 22:05 and placed 17th overall. Also running season’s best times were Melanie Beabey, Carly Fuel, Kara Johnsen, Madison Owens, Lakyn Phillips and Hannah Talbert.
15 of the 20 Timberwolves in the Boys’ race ran their best times of the season, including Zach Blackburn, Chris Briggs, Justin Cole, Presten Johnson, Adam Middleton, Drake Moorer, Mason Morvant, Issac Nusbaum, Brandon Reed, Cam Rice, Graham Rice, Trevor Schnabel, Caleb Shealy (18:05, 15th), Ethan Sieberhagen and Zach Weber.
The teams will compete again today in a meet at Lugoff-Elgin. That meet was moved up a day in anticipation of bad weather related to Hurricane Michael.
