Timberwolves News · Wrestling Team Closes Gap with top team from GA, finishes 2nd

White Knoll wrestling team sent 2 varsity squads up to Liberty Duals near Clemson, SC this past Saturday.   The first team went 3–1 and finished in 2nd place.   The second team finished 3-2, and by format finished 9th. 16 teams total competed in this event.

Team A, started off in round 1 with a 72-10 win over Liberty High School who defeated White Knoll last season in the same event in the 5th place match.   In the second round, Team A defeated Greer 75-4.   Next, the Timberwolves would take down a young talented Oglethorpe (Ga) team 52-16 in the semi-finals.   In the finals, the Wolves would face a team in Locust Grove (Ga)who they lost to the previous year in the same tournament but in an earlier round 62-7.  This year the Wolves would close the gap but fall short for the team championship losing to 41-24.

The varsity teams overall record on the season is now 12-2.  The first team has an overall record of 8–1 and 7-0 in state.

Next up for the Wolves is arch rival Lexington at Home this Wednesday! Start time for varsity is 7pm.  Middle school and JV will compete at 5:30pm.   Come support our wrestlers as they try to down a top 10 5A team.
