In what is arguably the toughest region in the state for girls soccer, the White Knoll Timberwolves managed to go on a four game win streak in the region to end the season to earn the title of Co-Region Champions of Region 5-5A.
Coming out of spring break, White Knoll was 2-2 in the region knowing they’d have to go on a run to have a chance to make the playoffs. The group of ladies, who have been resilient all season, got to 3-2 with a tight, 1-0 OT victory against Dutch Fork, before moving to 4-2 with an exciting victory in penalties over the talented Lexington Wildcats.
The Lady T-Wolves then traveled to Chapin and fought hard for a 2-0 victory over the Eagles, meaning their last game against 6-1 River Bluff would decide their fate. Another battled ensued, with White Knoll picking up the win in overtime 1-0 and earning a share of the region title in the process with a 6-2 region record.
Due to tiebreakers, the Lady T-Wolves are the #2 seed for the playoffs and will travel on Monday in their first round game to Ashley Ridge out of Region 8.
Good luck T-Wolves!
